Who We Are
On Screen Manitoba was established in 1987 as a non-profit, membership-driven association that represents the interests of Manitoba's motion picture industry, production companies and professionals. On Screen Manitoba is governed by a Board of Directors, and membership in the Association includes filmmakers, producers, writers, directors, production crew, broadcasters, educators, organizations, and suppliers of the industry. Collectively, the members of On Screen Manitoba work to create opportunities for the production, promotion and appreciation of Manitoba's dynamic film and video community.

Tara was appointed as On Screen Manitoba's Executive Director in 2006 after serving as the Programs Manager for the previous five years. She has over 10 years of experience in the film and television sector in Manitoba and British Columbia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Film Studies from the University of Victoria (BC) with a co-operative education distinction. She has served on several juries and boards including the Winnipeg Film Group and the Manitoba Crafts Council.

Angie joined On Screen Manitoba on January, 24, 2007 as Marketing and Membership Manager. In her new role, Angie will be responsible for keeping the members engaged in the Association and informed of its activities and will develop and implement On Screen Manitoba's marketing and communications strategy, coordinate development initiatives and a number of On Screen Manitoba's major events including the Blizzard Awards.
With over nine years of experience in publicity, marketing, promotions and event management, Angie is no stranger to the entertainment industry. With the 2006 success of Song for Africa, Angie gained experience and valuable contacts in national media relations and continues to promote both the song and C.A.F.A.A. (Canadian Artists For African Aid). Strong relationship building skills and a much sought after creative style have helped place her at the top of her field. Angie specializes in a variety of areas including arts and festival marketing, radio and print promotions, sponsorship sales, special event management and media relations. Angie is excited about bringing her expertise to the film industry and taking On Screen Manitoba to the next level.

Steve Hignell joined On Screen Manitoba in May 2007 as Programs Coordinator to coordinate the Manitoba Music & Motion Pictures Development Project (M3P). In his last capacity as Trade Assistant with Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), he liaised with industry members from all sectors, spanning Arts and Cultural to Aerospace and Environmental. He has worked with both music and theatre for the Pantages Playhouse and Burton Cummings Theatres, and has volunteered with many festivals and conferences in his free time. Steve is a graduate of Economics from the University of Manitoba and holds a diploma in International Business (Adv.) from Red River College. He is also an avid traveler and outdoors enthusiast, and enjoys cycling, hiking, and backwoods canoe tripping.

Angela Kuehl Browne is the new face at the front desk as you walk into the On Screen Manitoba office, filling the Memberships & Office Coordinator position. She comes to us from Film Training Manitoba where she served first as Work Experience Program Assistant and then as Communications Coordinator for the past 18 months. She is the part time Communications Liaison at GroundSwell, Winnipeg's New Music organization, was also NSI-Canada's Print Traffic Coordinator during the 2005 and 2006 Film Exchange Festival, and works as a webmaster and photographer in Canada's Folk Music scene in her 'spare time'.
Her involvement in Winnipeg and Canada's arts scene goes back to the early 90's, when she starting volunteering and photographing events and festivals across Canada. She has been involved with the Winnipeg International Children's Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra's New Music Festival, The Winnipeg International Writer's Festival and many more.
Angela is a fantastic cook, a movie buff, a music aficionado, computer geek and power napper.

After graduating from the Tourism Program with Red River College, Megan began working as Program Coordinator with the Exchange District BIZ. In her role as Program Coordinator her key responsibilities included planning and implementing Canada Day Festivities, maintaining the website, creating weekly and monthly newsletters and maintaining regular contact with all BIZ members. After a two-year stint with Investors Group as an Administrative Assistant, she migrated back to her passion of marketing and event management. Portage Place Shopping Centre hired her on as Marketing Assistant and was then promoted to interim Marketing Coordinator during a maternity leave. Megan's exceptional organization skills and creative vision were the perfect fit to both support and lead in planning and executing events in the shopping centre and implementing the marketing campaigns all in efforts to increase traffic. Megan is extremely excited to learn about the film industry, build relationships and utilize her skills and experience to provide support to On Screen Manitoba!
