Blizzard Awards 2006: Definition of Terms
For the purpose of the On Screen Manitoba Blizzard Awards 2006 the following words and phrases should be understood as follows:
Authenticated eMail
A confirming eMail, sent by an Authorized Signing Person, which displays an eMail address that uses the individual's name and so verifies the source as being the Authorized Signing Person.
Authorized Signing Person
The authorized signing person is a representative of the production company, generally the Producer, Executive Producer, Canadian Licensee or Copyright Owner who owns and controls the rights of the production. The signature verifies on-screen credit and ensures no duplication of team entry per category for the same production. Authorization can be with an original signed letter or authenticated eMail.
Eligibility Period
The period from January 1, 2003 to March 31, 2005 during which motion pictures eligible for Blizzard Awards 2006 competition were produced.
Entrant
The Individual who will receive any Award and will be named 1st in Nominations promotional materials.
- For Program (Categories A1-A11) and Program Specialty entries (Categories A12-A14) this will be a Producer (or Executive Producer),
- For Craft entries (C1-C12) this will be the individual crafts person or for team entries (more than one name) this will be the designated team leader (department head, key technician)
- For Performer entries (B1-5) this will be the individual actor/actress, for Presenting entries (B5) of teams (more than one name to a maximum of six) this will be the designated senior presenter.
Manitoba Production
A motion picture produced or co-produced by a Manitoba producer(s), executive producer(s) or co-producer(s) with an on-screen credit. Associate Producer credits are not acceptable.
Manitoban (residency)
Any person legally entitled to be and remain in Canada , and who is ordinarily a resident of Manitoba and has been resident in the province for at least 200 days during the eligibility period
Motion Picture
Motion Picture describes film, video and digital productions, whether broadcast, theatrically screened, client-commissioned and/or viewed by a paying audience in any venue (including art houses, gallery exhibitions, and festivals) and/or via any other means of public distribution (including DVD and paid internet download).
On Screen
On screen includes any viewing by a paying audience, whether broadcast, theatrical screening, or client-commissioned use as well as non-theatrical distribution including festivals and gallery exhibition.
Performer Categories
Performer Categories include all people who appear in front of the camera, whether performing (drama) and/or presenting (non-fiction). The Presenting Award category includes individual and team entrants.
Venue
Venue includes any method of public distribution for viewing: broadcast television, theatrical screening, DVD, network download, gallery, art house and festivals.
