Blizzard Awards 2006: General Regulations

 

  1. Eligibility Period: Productions theatrically released, broadcast, distributed, viewed by a paying audience or delivered to the commissioning client during the period from January 1, 2003 to March 31, 2005 will be considered for this competition. Viewing venues include DVD and network download, festivals, art house screenings and gallery exhibits.
    • Productions previously entered in a Blizzard Award competition are not eligible.
  2. Rights: The Entrant warrants that all rights necessary to exhibit the production within the context of Blizzard Awards 2006, including rights to performances and music, have been properly secured and are assigned to On Screen Manitoba.

    • The Entrant's signature on the Official Entry Form certifies the transfer of rights to On Screen Manitoba
      1. to exhibit clips of the motion picture during Blizzard Awards 2006 presentations, and
      2. to showcase nominees, without fee or charge, in whole, or in part, during special On Screen Manitoba screenings and
      3. for promotional purposes associated with Blizzard Awards 2006.

      Note: If an Entrant does not own or control these rights, an Authorized Signing Person (see definitions) must sign the application section that certifies the transfer of rights.

      Note: Additional authorization may be requested for rights-to broadcast

  3. Format and Viewing Copies: Two (2) adjudication copies of each motion picture Entry are required by the October 28, 2005 final deadline for viewing by the Nomination Jury. DVD is preferred but VHS will be considered at the Entry stage.

    • Within two weeks of the November 20, 2005 announcement of Nominees (by Friday December 2, 2005, 5:00 p.m.), all nominees are required to provide, at the expense of the entrant, a DVD or Beta broadcast quality copy of their entry for use in the Awards Ceremony.
    • On Screen Manitoba reserves the right to retain an entry-copy (DVD or VHS) of the selected Nominees for inclusion in the Blizzard Archive.
    • All viewing copies in any format must be clearly labelled with:
      Program Title & Length,
      Producer (and/or Production Company),
      Contact Name with Phone Number/eMail, and Category(ies ).
      (The jury appreciates an additional spine label on video tapes with production Title & Entry Category.)
  4. Language : Entries in a language other than English are encouraged to provide a subtitled copy and/or an English story synopsis for Program entries, or an English scene synopsis for Craft and Performer entries.
  5. Accuracy : The Entrant's signature on the Official Entry Form signifies that all information (names, titles, spelling, etc.) provided is correct.
  6. Entry Corrections or Additions: Except where the omission of an entrant results from an On Screen Manitoba error, after the nominees are announced, On Screen Manitoba will only consider requests to correct or include additional eligible nominees to a named nominee entry:

    • in writing from the Authorized Signing Person, (see Definitions)
    • with an additional fee of $10 per change
    • within 10 business days following the announcement of nominees.

      On Screen Manitoba reserves the right to waive any of these conditions.

  7. Acceptance : The Entrant's signature on the Official Entry Form signifies understanding and acceptance of Blizzard Awards 2006 rules, regulations and entry requirements.
