On Screen Manitoba is very pleased to present the film & television industry’s second ever economic impact study - SNAPSHOT 2009 (PDF). Commissioned by On Screen Manitoba. Prepared by Canadian company Nordicity Group Ltd.
The results are bittersweet in that the industry saw the fastest and largest growth in its history. However, a slump in production in 2008/09 caused by the worldwide recession altered the trajectory of industry growth.
SNAPSHOT focuses on the five years ending March 31, 2008. It does not include in its analysis the most recent year ending March 31, 2009 in which a major decline in production occurred. To ensure our readers have this context, we will include the 2008/09 production figures.
