Economic Impact Analysis

On Screen Manitoba and Film Training Manitoba (FTM) are pleased to announce the long-awaited release of an Economic Impact Analysis & Training Needs Assessment for Manitoba's Film Industry. Titled Action! Industry in Motion! , the study marks the first major collaborative project between On Screen Manitoba and FTM.

The Economic Impact Analysis was researched and written by InterGroup Consultants, and the Training Needs Assessment was researched by OARS Training and written by InterGroup Consultants. Intended to provide a current "snapshot" of the growth and development of Manitoba's film and television industry, and identify future training needs, the study covers the years 1998 to 2003.

During the research phase, key person interviews took place with more than 50 film industry companies, professionals, and organizations, in order to assess and provide analysis of the motion picture industry. In depth case studies were also conducted to determine spending profiles for different types of productions: an indigenous television special, a co-produced series, an indigenous documentary, and an offshore television drama.
