Now in their 18th year running, Cinémental Festival 2009 has done nothing less than impress. The festival showcased an array of unique and original films from Francophone directors that remind us why we all love French-Canadian cinema.
The opening night of the festival, Soirée Manitobaine (Manitoba Night) featured three short films by Franco-Manitobans: two were National Film Board productions; Inspire Expire by Danielle Sturk, Le Secret D'un Moine by Yves Étienne Massicotte; and Un monde de passions – volet dualité linguistique by Georges Payrastre produced by Les Productions Rivard. On Screen Manitoba's Tara Walker and Claudia Garcia De La Huerta had the pleasure of attending the opening night.
The festival ran for five days from October 21st - October 25th and screened 15 films by French Canadians.
