Motion Picture Components

Market Development

  • Access to Markets (AtoM) : provides established and emerging producers with access to national and international markets through trade events.
  • Access to Festivals (AtoF): provides established filmmakers with support to attend film festivals they are participating in.
  • Professional Marketing Fund (PMF): provides independent production companies with support to undertake marketing strategies.
  • Manitoba International: Sponsoring familiarization tours, trade missions and market explorations.
  • Market Development events: support for network building through events such as receptions and producer roundtables in Manitoba and outside the province.

Marketing

  • Increased promotion of Manitoba's production industry to our local community and at national and international levels often in partnership with Manitoba Film & Sound.
  • Development of promotional tools: Web-based marketing and the Manitoba Film & Television Production Guide.
  • Outreach: attendance at career fairs and school events promoting the opportunities for work in the industry and for training in and creating motion pictures in Manitoba.

Business Development

  • Professional Development Fund (PDF): Professional development support specific to the film industry.
  • Business and Management Skills Workshop Series: provides skills training specifically for the industry; delivered by Film Training Manitoba.
  • Speaker Series: leading industry experts are brought to Winnipeg from across the globe to share their knowledge.
  • Business Planning Program: provides support for film companies to undertake business planning.
  • Corporate Strategic Planning Program (CSPP): comprehensive strategic plan development program for Manitoba's established production companies.

Research and Evaluation

  • Evaluation of the Project
  • Ongoing economic and market data collection occurs regularly and published to ensure timely access to industry information.

Projected Benefits

This initiative will expand, diversify and maximize the capacity of the Manitoba film and sound industries through professional and corporate development, and local, national and international marketing and promotion. Through the use of interactive technology, combined with traditional media and marketing initiatives, the project will empower industry stakeholders to establish and solidify their existing market share of the lucrative global entertainment industry. Through corporate development, this initiative will ensure that indigenous companies and artists are partnered with applicable business tools to create and sustain diverse and healthy sound and film industries in Manitoba.
