The $10,000 investment provides a quarterly $1,250 award to the best film, plus financial support to ensure festival technology continues to provide a high calibre showcase for the films.
“A&E has supported the NSI Online Short Film Festival since its 2008 launch,” said John Gill, NSI CEO. “The festival showcases the best short films from across Canada, and we are delighted that A&E rewards Canadian filmmakers with this prestigious title and monetary award.”
The festival calls for submissions four times a year. Each quarter a jury is assembled to select the A&E Short Filmmakers Award.
“We are proud to be associated with the NSI Online Short Film Festival and bring emerging filmmakers’ works to new audiences,” said Jim Babchak, A&E Television Networks. “Providing the artists with money to invest in their future projects is our way of nurturing and encouraging this talent.”
The next call for film submissions will be on April 2, to coincide with the debut of the redesigned NSI website.
