Posted: Jun 7, 2012 SHAUNNA O'BRIEN-MORAN MEMORIAL SERVICE

On Saturday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. there will be a memorial service for Shaunna O’Brien-Moran at the Winnipeg Art Gallery at 300 Memorial Blvd.

Shaunna, then Shaunna Black, was the first Executive Director of MMPIA, the precursor to On Screen Manitoba. She left MMPIA to work as a freelance production coordinator and production manager before joining Credo Group where she worked in business affairs and finally as Executive in charge of Production. Her credits include Twilight of the Ice Nymphs, The Adventures of Shirley Holmes, Heck’s Way Home and The Last Winter, among many others.

She contracted Multiple Sclerosis in the early 90s but continued working as long as it would let her. When she could no longer physically handle full time work, she stayed actively engaged with a community she loved and devoted her time to family, friends, CBC Radio and endless audiobooks, about which she always had much to say.

Endlessly positive and optimistic, she fought to the bitter end, which came on Tuesday, June 5, surrounded by her family.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Richard O’Brien-Moran, daughter Zoe, son Griffin, parents Aileen and Jim Black, sister & brother-in-law Moira & David Essa, sister-in-law Louise O’Brien-Moran and many other family and friends.
