Canadian Television Benefits Monitor: Tracking Spending on English-Language Television Benefits Packages

Produced by former CMPA VP Mario Mota, the Canadian Television Benefits Monitor is an annual research study that tracks spending for all current English-language television benefits packages (18 in total).

Almost $350 million in benefits funds are available for independent production and new media over the next seven years, with millions more to come after the CRTC approves the BCE-Astral transaction. The study shows producers which funding envelopes are available to them. The study also contains a detailed list of specific TV and new media programming projects funded through the various benefits packages in the past year (for the largest packages only), allowing producers to target their project ideas and development to what broadcasters are funding and ordering.
