Congratulations to OSM member Lynne Skromeda who was named Executive Director of the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
The Board of Directors of the Winnipeg Folk Festival is pleased to announce the appointment of Lynne Skromeda as its new Executive Director. Board chair Gerry Couture made the announcement today, following a board decision based on an extensive search.
As Executive Director, Ms. Skromeda will be responsible for day-to-day management of the organization, ensuring that operations are aligned with the Winnipeg Folk Festival’s vision, mission and mandate. She will also be involved in completing the festival’s Staging the Future capital campaign. She will work closely with Artistic Director Chris Frayer, as well as with the staff and volunteers to ensure that the Winnipeg Folk Festival continues to be one of Canada's premier music festivals.
Ms. Skromeda is a graduate of the Asper School of Business and brings with her over twelve years of experience in arts production in the film industry, having risen through the ranks to her current position as President of Production at Frantic Films.
“We are extremely pleased to be welcoming Lynne to the Winnipeg Folk Festival,” said Couture. “She brings an excellent reputation as a passionate, hard-working manager who gets things done while building strong, collaborative relationships. She will serve us well as we move toward our vision of seeing Winnipeg emerge as the folk music capital of North America.”
“I am very honoured and excited to have been selected as the successful candidate,” said Ms. Skromeda. “I’ve attended the Winnipeg Folk Festival since I was a child and it has always been my favourite event of the year. I am happy to be joining this venerable organization that has long been regarded as the best festival in Canada. I look forward to working with the excellent staff and taking the Winnipeg Folk Festival to the next level.”
Ms. Skromeda will commence her new position on September 4, 2012.
