The Opportunity
The Banff Mountain Festival division of the Film and Media Department is looking for a Production Administrative Coordinator to provide administrative support for all aspects of the technical planning and delivery of the Banff Mountain Book and Film Festival, and its related programming events.
This is a 13 week contract, from August 20 until November 16, 2012
Responsibilities
Communicate on a regular basis with the Program Manager to oversee the detailed technical planning of the Festival programs.
Communicate with faculty to determine technical specifications for each program as well as equipment, space, and facility needs. Act as liaison between faculty and Program Manager as well as with other departments on campus.
Assist Producer with recruitment, contract preparation, and scheduling of technical, termed staff.
Assist Producer with all relations, logistics, and administrative details relating to the sourcing and acquisition of technical equipment and related sponsorships, including their timely delivery and return.
Update and maintain the centralized database as it relates to event production.
Provide technical support at festivals' seminars and special events in all venues, as required.
In the absence of the Producer, serve as front-line contact for all technical issues, responding to inquiries and providing information as required.
The Ideal Candidate
Has a minimum of three-to-five years' experience in theatre and/or event production.
Possesses substantial experience in program delivery and project management.
Has strong computer skills in word processing, Outlook, Excel and especially ACCESS.
Demonstrates exceptional time-management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once while still maintaining appropriate attention to detail.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, ability to interact professionally with outside individuals and organizations; ability to seek collaborative solutions and to persuade others.
Is flexible and adaptable, able to work effectively under pressure with shifting priorities.
Is self-motivated and completely reliable and has an exceptional commitment to customer service.
Previous experience or knowledge of electronic multi-media presentation technology is an asset.
Special Requirements
Due to the deadlines of the job, the candidate will need to possess a willingness to work flexible, irregular hours including weekends and holidays when required.
As this position is of short duration, skills must be present from the onset of the job.
Employment Terms & Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, 13-week termed, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.
This position pays $21.66 per hour and increases to $24.07 per hour after probation, working up to 40 hours per week.
