Video Pool Media Arts Centre invites artists to submit video works of 5 minutes or less on the theme of GOLD for Art's 1 000 050 th Birthday.

The Major Arts Grant is available to support personal creative projects of six to ten months in duration. It allows artists whose work shows exceptional quality or accomplishment to concentrate on a specific project relating to their creative artistic work. The Major Arts Grant covers living expenses, project costs and travel expenses and is worth up to $25,000. Artists in all artistic disciplines are eligible to apply.

These Funds consist of a $3-million completion fund and a $1-million development fund. Shaw Media’s $4-million infusion into the Canadian documentary production community via the Funds will provide much-needed financial support to filmmakers facing financing gaps at critical stages in their projects. Hot Docs will manage and disperse the Funds’ benefit monies over a next seven-year period.

Short Film Face Off is Canada’s only television magazine program which features short films from across the country. The critically acclaimed show has already enjoyed four successful seasons and has brought a new mainstream audience for short films and increased profile for filmmakers.

The CBC is looking for the best short films from every region to take part in Short Film Face Off. We are looking for comedies and dramas not previously broadcast on national television. Music videos and documentaries are not suitable for Short Film Face Off. Directors must be available for tapings at CBC Toronto from May 15 to 18. The program producers will pay all travel and accommodation costs.

The International Documentary Association is now accepting proposals for the Pare Lorentz Documentary Fund, which provides production support for full-length documentary films. Named in honor of the landmark documentary filmmaker, the Fund provides annual grants totaling $75,000 to be used in the creation of original, independent documentary films that illuminate pressing issues in the United States.

The University of Winnipeg Department of Theatre and Film is pleased to present its 10th Annual University of Winnipeg Student Film Festival featuring juried films made by post-secondary students registered in school between April, 2011 and April, 2012.

The Festival will take place Wednesday, April 25 through Friday, April 27, 2012 in Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall (3rd Floor Centennial Hall) at the University of Winnipeg. All Festival events are free and open to the public.
