Le lundi 21 janvier, le CRTC a rendu publique la demande de TV5 Québec Canada visant à modifier la licence de la chaîne TV5 pour lui permettre de diffuser deux services sous une même licence : le TV5 actuel qui continuera d'offrir dans sa grille une grande composante de la production télévisuelle en provenance de la francophonie internationale et la nouvelle chaîne UNIS, dont la mission sera de refléter toute la diversité de la francophonie canadienne et qui consacrera au moins 75 % de sa programmation à des émissions canadiennes conçues, réalisées et produites par les francophones d'ici.
