In Remote a man tries to prevent the murder of a young woman living in his apartment thirty years ago.

Today marks the 25th birthday of the National Screen Institute - Canada. Over 700 writers, directors and producers have been trained through the NSI's programs. And they've gone on to make films, TV shows, web series, plays, books, apps and more.

With training through the NSI Global Marketing program, four Canadian producers are ready to pitch their projects to international buyers, co-producers and distributors at MIPTV. Created by the National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI), NSI Global Marketing is an intensive training program that teaches established Canadian producers the essential skills of selling, pitching, promoting their market-ready projects and networking with international partners. The producers will put these skills to use at MIPTV, an international television market in Cannes, France, April 4 - 7. The program includes at-market mentoring and support, and post-market follow-up.

National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) is seeking applications from writer / producer teams for its NSI Totally Television training program. Teams receive training in the development of a TV series using mentoring and intensive workshops delivered by leading industry experts. You keep your day job while you train. The program features a week-long boot camp in Toronto in the fall. The rest of the training can be coordinated while you are actively working in the industry.

NSI Totally Television gives you ten months of market-driven training including the opportunity to work with story editors, showrunners, mentors and executive producers to develop and shape your project. Up to five teams are accepted for the initial phase of training; only the teams with the top market-driven projects will continue to Phase 2 to attend the Banff World Media Festival 2012. Your team will get the tools you need to develop your TV show and pitch it to broadcasters with the ultimate goal of getting it made.

The newest participants in NSI Drama Prize, a training program for producers, writers and directors run by National Screen Institute - Canada, are in Winnipeg from all over the country to learn from the best of Canada’s filmmaking industry.

National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) announced today that CEO Derek Luis has left the organization. A search committee of the Board of Directors has been struck to find a replacement. David Pollock, NSI Director of Finance, will act as interim managing director.

NSI New Voices, run by Canada’s National Screen Institute (NSI), is looking for nine talented Canadian Aboriginal adults aged 18 to 35 who are seeking careers in film and TV. This training program will connect students with industry professionals through skills development training and an eight week full-time industry work placement. The program begins the last week of April and takes place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. There are a limited number of openings for non-Winnipeg residents; out-of-town program participants are responsible for covering the costs of their accommodation and travel. Participants will receive minimum wage during the program.

On January 31, 2011 our five NSI Aboriginal Journalism students attended their graduation ceremony marking the end of this pilot program.

Twenty new short films from Canadian directors have been selected to the NSI Online Short Film Festival hosted by Canada’s National Screen Institute, including one by OSM member Talia Pura. The new films will roll out over coming weeks.
