ON SCREEN MANITOBA is looking for a personable, detail-oriented multi-tasker to fill the key team position of Administrative Assistant. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and within a team of equally passionate colleagues. The Administrative Assistant will serve our membership by acting as the front line contact for the Association.
Qualifications include:
The individual must be motivated, conscientious, possess strong organizational and communications skills and knowledge of office procedures.

Computer literacy is essential, particularly Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills are required, as is the ability to work flexible hours on occasion. Knowledge of the motion picture and sound recording industries and a driver’s license are assets. The successful applicant will have demonstrated success at working in a flexible, dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will have one year experience in an office environment and some post-secondary experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Employment Conditions:
Term position to March 31st with contract extension dependent on fundingThe Assistant reports to the two Program Managers.This is a full-time position with benefits (after 3 months of employment) Hours of work are 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend and evening work required.The initial three months will be probationarySalary: $28,000, plus benefits

Posted: Sep 17, 2008 On Screen Manitoba Welcomes New Programs Manager - Claudia Garcia de la Huerta

We are pleased to announce that starting Monday, September 29, 2008, Claudia Garcia de la Huerta will join the On Screen Manitoba team as Programs Manager! Working closely with the Executive Director, Claudia will manage the film initiatives of the innovative Manitoba Music & Motion Pictures Development Project (M3P).

Born in Chile, Claudia and her parents arrived in Canada as political refugees in 1975. She was just two years old.

Claudia’s father worked for the secret service under Salvador Allende. He spent two years as a political prisoner after the military coup in 1973.
In 1998 Claudia graduated from the Creative Communications program at Red River College. She was quickly hired by CBC Radio in Winnipeg where she went on to have a successful career first as a news reporter and then as the producer and host of the weekly music and performance show "Culture Shock”.

Hello Friends,

I’m writing let you all know that I’ll be leaving On Screen Manitoba later this month to pursue work in the UK.  It’s been a great time working with and getting to know all of you over the past year.

On Screen Manitoba is an outstanding organization and I’ve really enjoyed my time working here, which makes this a bittersweet farewell. The community is incredibly supportive and great to work with, and I am forever grateful to you all. No one's departure from this magnetic town is ever permanent, so I look forward to keeping in touch.

My friends and colleagues at On Screen Manitoba are on the hunt for a great new teammate, so please let us know if you have a potential candidate in mind for my position.

Posted: Apr 21, 2008 FEDERAL AND PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENTS SUPPORT MANITOBA'S GROWING MUSIC AND MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY

Winnipeg, Manitoba - The Manitoba Music and Motion Pictures Development Project (M3P) will continue to increase local, national and international market access thanks to an investment under the Canada-Manitoba Economic Partnership Agreement.
An investment of $600,000 to M3P was announced today by Andrew Swan, Minister of Competitiveness, Training and Trade; Joy Smith, Member of Parliament for Kildonan-St. Paul on behalf of the Honourable Rona Ambrose, President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of Western Economic Diversification; and Eric Robinson, Minister of Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Sport.

(Winnipeg, February 25, 2008) On Screen Manitoba, in association with an alliance of partners from across Western Canada, are set for an intensive business-focused trade mission to New York City, March 11-15, 2008. The shared goals are to help selected Western Canadian Feature Film Producers learn about the international feature film marketplace and support them to find US partners and investigate more innovative financing for their projects.
