All remaining OSM contribution programs will be open by September 7, 2011 (the Marketing Fund and Business Capacity Growth Program). This was made possible through the restructuring of the contributions agreement for each program and the introduction of a new fee structure.

There are some important deadlines for Markets & Festivals coming up!

When applying for On Screen Manitoba's Access to Markets or Access to Festivals Programs, remember that the deadline is 30 days prior to the start of each event and that late applications will not be accepted.

On Screen Manitoba (OSM) would like to congratulate Quinn Greene whose project Brad Even Paler was selected as the winner of the 2011 Rogers $10,000 Pitch! during the 2011 Gimli Film Festival.

Here is your chance to show off the creativity of the Manitoba production industry!

On Screen Manitoba requires the services of a commercial producer to create 3-5 broadcast quality 30 sec PSAs in both English and French for our new Public Awareness Initiative. The PSAs are for screening beginning in the Fall of 2011 through to Spring 2012 (and beyond online).

The Gimli Film Festival is just days away (July 20 – 24, 2011). On Screen Manitoba is very happy to be partnering with the festival this year to deliver the Industry Development Program (July 20 -22, 2011).

The 2011 Gimli Film Festival Industry Development Program is now available.

The program lists all of the industry sessions that will be taking place during the GFF and has biographies on all of the special guests and moderators.

On Screen Manitoba is happy to announce that eight participants have been selected by a jury of broadcasters and industry professionals to present their projects at the 2011 Rogers $10,000 Pitch! during the Gimli Film Festival.

As of July 1, 2011, On Screen Manitoba’s membership rates & structure will change. Most rates will see a minimal 20% increase; student membership rates will decrease and a new Union and Guild level will be introduced. Along with this new level, members from each respective labor group will be able to join On Screen Manitoba for 50% off the regular individual rate. In addition, current Winnipeg Film Group members are now eligible to sign up for a discounted individual OSM membership (first time OSM members only - proof of WFG membership required).

Earlier today, February 3, OSM's Executive Director Nicole Matiation presented in front of the CRTC hearings in Gatineau looking into the Bell purchase of the CTV television assets. This massive deal includes Bell buying nearly 30 conventional CTV stations, 6 A Channel stations, 13 analog specialty channels like SPACE, The Comedy Network, TSN, MuchMusic, Discovery Channel, Bravo! AND 16 digital specialty channels including Animal Planet, BookTelevision, FashionTelevision, MuchVibe Plus the numerous digital media sites and radio stations that CTV controls.

L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE (UNITED, WE STAND), that was the overwhole feeling at the round-table for the Francophones of the industry who met on a nasty cold afternoon in St.-Boniface on January 27. For the first time ever, producers, writers, directors, cameramen, animators from the French community had the chance to sit together and share their vision of the French production industry in Manitoba.
