On Screen Manitoba will be partnering with Film Training Manitoba, National Screen Institute - Canada, and DOC Winnipeg to bring Bob Culbert and Elizabeth Klinck to Winnipeg to work with documentary filmmakers.

On Screen Manitoba is pleased to share information regarding the launch of The Rogers Development Fund – Alberta & Manitoba. This new revolving fund provides development loans for the creation of Canadian content to unaffiliated independent producers/production companies resident in Manitoba and Alberta.

The first week of the CBC/Radio-Canada hearings are coming to a close and On Screen Manitoba Executive Director, Nicole Matiation, will be in Ottawa next week to represent independent Canadian writers, directors, producers and crew who choose to live and work in Manitoba. On Saturday, November 10 members of Manitoba’s arts community, government and private sector gathered for a celebration of 25 years of film and music in Manitoba. Manitoba Film & Music, On Screen Manitoba and Manitoba Music, three of the key organizations in the industry, mark their 25th anniversaries this year.

The National Film Board of Canada’s Roddy McManus was in Winnipeg on November 5 for a whirlwind visit.

On Screen Manitoba remains an ardent advocate for independent Canadian producers living and working in Manitoba. We intervene regularly in national and regional discussions regarding government and regulatory affairs of concern to the Manitoba media production industry.

Documentary filmmaking has a long tradition in the Canadian production sector with its filmmakers winning respect and awards the world over. On Screen Manitoba (OSM) recognizes the value of documentary filmmaking and congratulates the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), Rogers Group of Funds and Telefilm Canada on their partnership that will see Telefilm’s Theatrical Documentary Program budget restored to $1.5 million.

On Screen Manitoba (OSM) reconnaît la valeur du documentaire et félicite l’Office national du film du Canada (ONF), le Rogers Group of Funds et Téléfilm Canada qui, en partenariat, ont réstitué à 1,5 millions de dollars le budget du Programme pour le long métrage documentaire.

The 12th annual Gimli Film Festival has come and gone and was another smashing success.

From the Industry Sessions, produced by OSM, to the film screenings in the theatres and on the beach, more than 13,000 people got to experience this one of a kind festival on the shores of Lake Winnipeg.

OSM would like to remind you that the new application deadline for all our Contribution Programs is 3 weeks before the event. If you are planning to go to the Toronto International Film Festival (September 6 to 16), your application to Access to Markets or Access to Festivals should be submitted by August 15.

On Screen Manitoba is pleased to produce the Gimli Film Festival Industry Sessions in partnership with the Gimli Film Festival on Thursday July 26 and Friday July 27. These sessions include engaging panels, a networking lunch with Hot Doc's Stephanie McArthur, a Daniel Cross pitch workshop, and one-on-one meetings.

JOSEPH HENRY HAYWOOD July 24, 1933 - June 8, 2012 With his family by his side, Joe passed away peacefully on June 8, 2012, in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Ian Elkin peacefully passed away on June 8th, 2012 at St. Boniface hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

On Saturday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. there will be a memorial service for Shaunna O’Brien-Moran at the Winnipeg Art Gallery at 300 Memorial Blvd.
