Winnipeg MB (May 19, 2009) -- E1 Entertainment, 5 for Fighting and Frantic Films in association with CBC Television announce that principal photography is underway on the original Canadian bio-pic, Keep Your Head Up Kid: The Don Cherry Story. This four-hour mini-series being made for broadcast on CBC, chronicles the life of one of Canada’s most prominent hockey personalities and top sportscaster. It will be shot on location in Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba for eight weeks beginning May 20th.

Keep Your Head Up Kid: The Don Cherry Story stars Jared Keeso (I Love You, Beth Cooper; The Guard; Monster Warriors) as Don Cherry, and Sarah Manninen (The Line; Naked Josh; Never Forget) as Rose Cherry. The script is written by Tim Cherry, Don Cherry’s son, who is also Executive Producer on the project along with Laszlo Barna, Jamie Brown and Wayne Thompson. Producers are Wayne Thompson, Terry Gould and Shawn Watson and Co-Producer is Dennis Heaton. Jeff Woolnough (CSI; Battlestar Galactica; Bones; Céline) is directing.

E1 Entertainment, 5 for Fighting and Frantic Films in association with CBC Television will be shooting the original Canadian bio-pic, Keep Your Head Up Kid: The Don Cherry Story. This four-hour mini-series being made for broadcast on CBC, chronicles the life of Don Cherry – one of Canada’s most prominent hockey personalities and top sportscaster. It will be shot on location in Winnipeg, Selkirk and Brandon.

WINNIPEG FIRST NATION: home of a heart is a documentary film created byfilmmaker Jim Sanders and The Urban Native Housing Association through the WITH ART program.

Between 2006 and 2008, filmmaker Jim Sanders worked with the Manitoba Urban Native Housing Association to create a film that looks at the Aboriginal housing situation from many perspectives. "Making Winnipeg First Nation and working closely with the Aboriginal community has reaffirmed my belief in art as a gateway to the heart for all involved…it is a key to unlocking a better future for all in this great city of ours” (Jim Sanders).
