Film Training Manitoba’s Human Resource Training Fund is designed to support the development of staff and contract employees of Manitoba’s production and service companies by addressing their unique training needs. The HR Training Fund will provide financial assistance to companies to implement professional development workshops and mentorships. FTM will assist approved companies by recommending various workshops, instructors and mentors.

Film Training Manitoba has been asked by IASTE Local 669 (the International Photographers Guild) to gauge the interest of our community in their Camera Trainee Program. Interested parties should submit a resume, along with a letter of interest, to FTM. If a significant interest is shown in the program, IATSE Local 669 will conduct a Camera Trainee Training Course here in Winnipeg.

The Camera Trainee Program is aimed at those interested in becoming a 2nd Assistant Cameraperson. Upon successful completion of the Camera Trainee Training Course you will be accepted into the Camera Trainee Program. Trainees are not members of the Local. A camera trainee is a trainee member working on IATSE Local 669 signatory productions with professional film crews. This program focuses on field training and provides an entry into a motion picture career for those who aspire to be professional Camera Assistants and ultimately Cinematographers.

Montréal, May 21, 2009 – Telefilm Canada, in partnership with the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN), is launching the second edition of its Featuring Aboriginal Stories Program. Aboriginal writers, writer-directors and producers are thus invited to submit their first application between now and June 29, 2009. Writers and producers who were selected during the program’s first year, in 2008, have until November 27, 2009 to submit an application for development assistance for the subsequent stage of their project.

Instructor: Benjamin Davis from the Ivana Chubbuck Studio In LA. Straight from Los Angeles, acting coach Ben Davis will be bringing the Ivana Chubbuck Technique to Film Training Manitoba. This is a 12-step acting technique, which will take you from the script to a living, breathing, and dynamic character. The following actors have worked with Ivana using her technique Halle Berry, Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kate Hudson, and Jon Voight.

The Course
The 12 acting tools will help you to dig into your psyche, allowing for discovery and a way to expose and channel all those wonderful demons that we all have. Your dark-side, your traumas, your beliefs, your priorities, your fears, what drives your ego, what makes you feel shame and what initiates your pride are your colors, your paints to draw with as an actor. You’ll learn that the obstacles of your character’s life are not meant to be accepted but to be overcome, in heroic proportions. In other words, the Chubbuck technique teaches an actor how to win.
