Hello Memborinos!
Tonight is First Fridays at Don Pedro's - Authentic Mexican Grill. The wonderful people at Don Pedro's love us so much, they are offering us drink specials every First Friday. Today's special is a $1 off a pint of draught beer. We've realized that we don't have a license to hold raffles, so we won't be selling tickets. This means OSM and WFG Members attending First Fridays today can enter a draw to win a Panasonic Blu-ray Player, courtesy of MidCan!
Now that I've got your attention, our Marketing and Membership Manager has an important message she'd like to share with you.
Dear Members,
As of October it will have been one year since our Communications Coordinator, Gemma Manangan, began working as part of team OSM. During her time here she has taken the communications of our association to another level, setting the bar higher than anticipated. We have watched her evolve and grow into her position, making it her own.

Communications Coordinator Gemma at Gimli Film Festival 2010
She has come a long way since the first interview she conducted, which I remember her being very nervous about (but would never admit to). Now that part of her job is second nature to her and her natural skills are reflected in the quality of content she is creating and sharing with our members and stakeholders.
Gemma is very passionate about her job and the MB screen-based media industry. She genuinely wants to learn more and strives to help our members build their businesses & careers...she just “gets it”. She goes above and beyond, delivering every time. She is smart, intuitive, sweet and soooo funny! She makes me laugh so hard my cheeks hurt! She is my right hand girl. She is my friend.
Which is why, as I write this my eyes are filling with tears, as I prepare to let you all know that Gemma will be leaving the association mid October to expand her horizons...in Australia! Although she will be terribly missed, we wish her all the best.
I encourage you to wish her luck and to send her any kind words you may have.
Thanks for all your hard work! :0)
Megan Deaust
Marketing & Membership Manager
On Screen Manitoba
Yes my dear friends, it's all true. Come late October, I will be leaving my post here as Communications Coordinator to give things a go down under, in the land of Dingos and Kangaroos...Australia. Parting is such sweet sorrow, and I am so honored by this message Megan has wrote; it has left me all teary eyed.
The CMF Industry Consulation 2010 in Winnipeg will take place this Wednesday, September 8th in the afternoon (official time to be released soon). If you haven't registered yet, click here.
Holy Job Postings! OSM is on a hiring frenzy, Batman.
