Producer Networking Event presented by MNP
Producer Networking Event
On Screen Manitoba, in partnership with MNP, is bringing together Manitoba producers for an informal evening of conversation and connection.
This gathering will create space for producers to discuss current industry dynamics and opportunities for continued collaboration across Manitoba’s media production industry. The goal is to encourage open dialogue, share perspectives, and strengthen relationships within the producing community.
During the evening, the On Screen Manitoba Producer Committee co-chairs will provide a brief update on the committee’s current priorities and areas of focus.
We will also be joined by special guests from Manitoba Film and Music, who will share a short update on their Strategic Plan, including:
Upcoming modifications to film financing programs
Opportunities for industry feedback
Insights from the labour market environmental scan
Next steps for a sector-wide workforce development strategy
This informal gathering offers producers a chance to stay informed, strengthen industry connections, and contribute to ongoing conversations about the future of Manitoba’s media production industry.

Legal Considerations for Music Use in Media Production
Explores the various ways that music can legally be included in films and TV series, and other productions – from diving into composer agreements to master use and synchronization licenses.
Facilitated by entertainment lawyer Byron Pascoe of Edwards Creative Law, the session is designed primarily for film producers and filmmakers, while remaining intentionally cross-disciplinary for musicians and music producers working with screen content.

This two-day in-person workshop equips producers and key decision makers in film and television with the tools to lead more inclusive productions.
Sustainable Production: Carbon Calculators with Green Spark Group. (virtual)
Quantify and visualize the carbon footprint of production activities. Training will be delivered for two carbon calculators: albert & PEAR.
About the instructor
Samantha is a sustainability consultant with Green Spark Group. While studying at Quest University Canada in Squamish, BC, she implemented a successful waste management system that diverted over 80% of the university’s student waste from landfill. She was awarded a Showcase Presenter position for her undergraduate thesis on waste contamination at local food service institutions and has presented at various events including a TEDx conference. Sam values community and is passionate about empowering people and businesses to reduce their impacts on the environment. While working as an Environmental PA on Y: The Last Man (FX, 2021), she engaged crew in recycling and reusables initiatives, and coordinated surplus food donation through Second Harvest in the Greater Toronto Area. Sam is hopeful that humans will overcome the global climate crisis and is dedicated to supporting that change in the motion picture industry.

About the instructor
Ashleigh Prince is a senior on-production sustainability consultant. She has worked in the entertainment industry including, music, TV, film and live events, for the last 30 years. While working on the hit ABC show, “Nashville” in its first season, Ashleigh worked with department heads to bring about more sustainable practices across the show. Next she brought the film “Unacceptable Levels” to Nashville in 2012, to a sold out audience. The reaction by the audience to this film sparked the creation of Ecogal: The Curious Consumer, a pilot and blog.
Ashleigh brings her wealth of experience in entertainment to Green Spark Group and will focus her energy on advancing sustainable practices in Tennessee.

Ian Harris – Entertainment Lawyer
Ian’s practice focuses on legal transactions in the entertainment industry with an emphasis on film and TV production, video games, interactive digital media, privacy, and intellectual property acquisition, distribution and protection. Ian also works with Mark Edwards in the firm’s entertainment litigation practice.
Ian is a trusted counselor whose clients value his careful drafting and unflagging attention to detail. Ian has developed particular expertise drafting and negotiating employment and independent contractor agreements in the film and TV industry, as well as production services agreements and co-production agreements.

OSM Submission Deadline: Telefilm Canada's Talent to Watch Program 2024-2025
On Screen Manitoba is proud to once again collaborate with Telefilm Canada as a Designated Industry Partner for its Talent to Watch Program, which supports emerging filmmakers looking to finance the production stage of their first feature film project(s).
As a Designated Industry Partner, OSM is organizing a pre-selection process for Telefilm’s Industry Partner stream. A local jury will select up to 3 submissions to receive a letter of recommendation from OSM, which is necessary for applications to Telefilm under the Industry Partner stream.
Applicants must confirm eligibility by April 5 to receive the submission form.
